From Lodestar Planetarium in Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Jonathan Wolfe brings his fractal presentation to Goddard Planetarium.
The Fractal Foundation was formed in 2003, as an outgrowth of the Albuquerque based “Chaos Club”. Since then, we have taught fractals to over 24,000 children and 15,000 adults. Based in Albuquerque, most of the activities have thus far taken place in New Mexico, but they continue to spiral outward and upward… This show is suitable for children and adults of all ages.
A 55 minute presentation takes the audience zooming through the mathematically generated Mandelbrot fractal. The presenter, Dr. Jonathan Wolfe, and audience then interactively explore a realm of naturally occurring fractals, ranging from microscopic to galactic scales. The repeating theme is how the complexity of nature is created through the repetition of simple processes.
Dr. Wolfe currently presents "First Friday Fractals" at Lodestar Planetarium in Albuquerque in addition to traveling around New Mexico. There will be an admission charge of $3 per person for this show. One night only, January 21, at 7 pm.
NASA’s Driven to Explore (DTE) exhibit provides an interactive learning experience for the public. This mobile multimedia experience showcases the Shuttle Program, the progress of the International Space Station and benefits of space exploration leading into NASA’s next major program, Constellation. The walking tour includes breathtaking imagery and state-of-the-art models of the Constellation Program’s next-generation launch vehicles and human spacecraft destined for use to explore the moon and beyond.
